Hannari — Elegant · Gentle · Natural Beauty
Master Chef Hiroyuki brings to Hannari a lifetime dedicated to the highest expressions of Japanese gastronomy. Trained under two veteran chefs who led two-Michelin-star restaurants in Japan, he carries the weight of that tradition into every dish he creates. After arriving in Malaysia in 2020, Chef Hiro spent years preparing his vision before opening Hannari in the heart of Kuala Lumpur.
"Kappou is not just about cooking. It is a conversation — between chef and guest, between technique and season, between past and present."

At Hannari Sushi Kappou, the name says it all — hannari is a Japanese word meaning beauty, rejuvenation, and the vitality of spring. It is this spirit that guides every detail of our kitchen and dining room.
Blending the artistry of sushi-making with the confidence of kappou cooking, Hannari is Kuala Lumpur's destination for devotees of authentic Japanese cuisine. Our menu evolves fortnightly, mirroring the gradual shift of seasons in Japan.
The Hannari logo — an adaptation of Chef Hiroyuki's own family crest, the Sasarindou — weaves together bamboo leaf, dragon, and sakura blossom. The colour purple, a symbol of royalty, reflects our commitment to the highest standards.
Meet Our ChefFrom ka (to cut with a knife) and pou (to cook), kappou dining places the chef at the centre of the experience. Seated at the counter, you watch each dish come to life — the sizzle, the slice, the precise plating — while conversing freely with Chef Hiroyuki about every course.
This is dining as theatre, intimacy, and craft all at once.
Counter Seating · Chef Interaction"I leave it to you." In the omakase spirit, Chef Hiroyuki curates a bespoke progression of courses tailored to the season, your preferences, and his creative vision of the day. No two meals are ever identical.
Let the chef guide you through Japan's finest seasonal produce — from glistening sea urchin to snow crab alive with roe.
